Virtually all attachments require the forklift to have 3rd and 4th valve function to manage the flow of hydraulic fluid to the attachment allowing it to open and close or shift side to side for example. Most forklifts are only equipment with two function valves to lift/lower the mast and tilt it forward/backwards. When adding an attachment, the mast has to be properly hosed to handle the additional functions required by the attachment, including hose management using proper reels.
